The Loss or Damage Waiver scheme (Hire Protect) takes the worry out of hiring equipment, giving you peace of mind when you hire plant and equipment.

- You must take reasonable steps to protect the property hired to you and to ensure that all statutory and other regulations relating to the plant and equipment are observed where it is your responsibility under the terms of the underlying hire agreement.
- A limit of liability up to £100,000 in any one occurrence with no single article limit.
- Any theft must be reported to the police immediately and the crime reference number recorded.
- Any loss or damage must be reported as soon as reasonably practicable and in any event within 5 days of the event.
- Take photos of the damaged equipment in situ and/or any areas of damage to the site or property following theft or vandalism
Principle exclusions:
- Policy excess.
- Any loss from a single cause in excess of £100,000 in respect of any single item.
- Continuing hire charges
- Any loss which happens as an indirect result of an event for which you are insured.
- Loss or damage or breakdown caused by your wilful act or neglect.
- Damage relating to routine maintenance ie daily/weekly maintenance of batteries, engine oil levels etc where you are responsible under the terms of the hire contract
- Loss or damage to property on the first insured’s premises when not under a contract with Hire Protect
- Loss or damage of equipment where it has not been safely secured when not in use or outside of working hours.
- Inventory losses and unexplained losses.
- Theft by hirer or theft by an associates of the hirer.
- Loss or damage if the equipment is hired by you to another hirer without our prior agreement.

Policy Cost
Hire Protect is calculated as a percentage of your total hire charge – 15% on all equipment. For example, if the cost of hiring a 1 Tonne Excavator and a tracked power barrow for a day came to £100 the waiver would cost £15.
Excess Charges
In the event of a claim being made, you will be subject to the following excess charges:

Information we require
If you have decided that Hire Protect suits your needs and would like to take out cover, you will need to provide us with the following:
- Your full name
- Contact details (telephone, address, email etc)
- Site address
- 1 x Photo Identification (e.g. Driving Licence, Passport, Travelcard)
- 2 x Proof of Address (e.g. Bank Statements, Utility Bills)
A photocard Driving Licence can be used as one of the two proofs of address as well as the photo identification.
What we do with this information
The information we collect from you is stored according to our privacy policy. We only pass on your information to the insurers for the purpose of validating the policy.
